Subject:    Saving a bitmap causes an error message

Date:        31 July 1998

FAULT

When saving a bitmap file an error message stating "Unknown Problem Detected in Satori" occurs. Satori may also report the following message:

"The paging file may not be large enough to generate the required raster. Try saving the Canvas file, then increasing the size of the paging file   to at least xxx Mbytes to alleviate possible output problems".

SOLUTION

As a rule the paging file (swap file / virtual memory) should be set to at least 2x the final rendered image file (uncompressed).

For example:

    Rendering a 4k x 4k pixel canvas at 32 bit (4 channel – RGB+Alpha) will generate a 64 Mbyte (uncompressed) file
    (4,000 x 4,000 x 4 = 64 Mbyte)

Therefore a 128 Mbyte (minimum) paging file will be required for processing. Refer to your operating system documentation to change the paging file
